Objectives
Law 1. Identify recent legislative and administrative changes and updates in pharmacy law. 2. Discuss recent pharmacy-related cases and the legal implications thereof. 3. Provide update on pharmacy practice state and federal legislative regulatory issues.
New Drug 1. Identify select new molecular and biological entities, with the exception of diagnostic compounds, that entered the U.S. drug market in 2007- 2008. 2. Describe each agent’s mechanism of action, dosage, adverse reactions, contraindications, and drug interaction profile. 3. Compare new medicines with other agents used for the same indications. 4. List special patient instruction and monitoring parameters for each of these agents.
Preceptor Training: Structuring an Effective Rotation Experience 1. Define “syllabus” and describe its use. 2. List and describe the usual components of information included in a syllabus. 3. Describe how a syllabus helps the preceptor and the student. 4. Develop a process for designing and evaluating potential learning activities. 5. Discuss ideas to facilitate student learning and management of the rotation experience.
Credit Statement
Pharmacy The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
This program has been assigned ACPE # 022-000-08-106-L03-P, 022-000-08-107-L01-P, 022-000-08-108-L04-P and will award up to 3.5 contact hours (0.35 CEUs) of continuing pharmacy education credit in states that recognize ACPE providers.
Statements of credit will indicate hours and CEUs based on participation and will be issued online at the conclusion of the activity. Successful completion includes signing in at registration, attending the entire session for which credit is claimed, completing the activity evaluation and requesting credit online at conclusion of the activity. The College complies with the Accreditation Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education.
Target Audience
This activity is knowledge-based and will provide ACPE credit for pharmacists. Pharmacy technicians and other healthcare professionals interested in learning more about the state of the pharmacy profession, recent law updates, new drug therapies, and information on the new preceptor training are welcome to attend.

All faculty members participating in continuing education programs sponsored by the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy are expected to disclose any real or perceived conflict of interest related to the content of their presentations. Copies of faculty disclosures will be included in the program materials.
Cost of Attendance
Registration fee: $25. The registration fee covers your participant materials, lunch and statement of credit.
A full refund will be issued if written notice of withdrawal is received one week before the date of the program for which you have registered. No refund will be granted after this date. Registration may be transferred to another participant.
The College of Pharmacy Continuing Education Office reserves the right to cancel or make substitutions in the activity. A full refund will be issued if circumstances warrant cancellation.
